MongoDB Partners With Wilco to Enable ”Learning by Doing” at Scale

Starting today, MongoDB partners with Wilco to provide engaging, hands-on experiences to its users. Recognizing Wilco’s ability to provide “learning by doing” experiences at scale, MongoDB will offer Wilco-based challenges to help train its users.

The first quest created as part of this new partnership is “Atlas, Rise,” a new way for newcomers to MongoDB to learn its basics through hands-on exploration. During the quest, the user creates a new cluster, configures the connection string, and accesses the database to read data. Along the way, they explore Atlas's features and gain experience working with a cloud-based NoSQL database.

“The Wilco platform allows MongoDB to take the best elements of “learning by doing” out to a wider audience and engage them with tasks and challenges that are both fun and educational,” said Shane McAllister, Lead Developer Advocate (Global) at MongoDB. “There’s no better experience than rolling up your sleeves and getting your proverbial hands dirty and immersed with code and a platform! And if we make that experience entertaining whilst doing so, then we’ve a much better opportunity for that experience to stick in the minds of developers.”
